Product Description
The "Vikings" were a famous West German Naval Aviation (Marineflieger) flight demonstration team operating Lockheed F-104G Starfighters. Formed in 1983 with personnel and aircraft from Marinefliegergeschwader 2 (MFG 2) based in Eggebek, the two-ship team dazzled airshow audiences with breathtaking high-speed routines.
While the team flew in standard tactical schemes for most of its career, 1986 brought a striking celebratory finish: the jets were repainted in a vibrant white, blue, and red livery representing the state colors of Schleswig-Holstein. The Vikings completed five final demonstration displays in this iconic scheme before disbanding alongside the retirement of the MFG 2 Starfighter fleet in 1986.
